Completion day is the big day and can be a stressful one, as our team know from their own experiences! Therefore, we have put together some top tips for the big day that we hope may prove useful:
- Declutter first, pack second – avoid taking any unnecessary items with you to your new home, as this will save you hassle in the long run and make the moving process easier.
- Prepare a Moving Day Bag – pack essentials into an accessible bag – you will thank yourself later when looking for your phone charger or a tea bag!
- Label your boxes – ensure you are aware of the destination of where each box should go and/or the contents of what is inside – this will make life easier when working out where each box belongs!
- Put screws & bolts in freezer bags – avoid losing crucial parts when re-building any furniture!
- Get up early – it is important to get a good night’s sleep before the big day and waking up early will provide you with as much time as possible on the day!
- Stay fed and hydrated – on such an active day it is important to remember to eat and drink – make you sure you have water bottles and snacks at the ready!
- Dress appropriately – wear comfortable clothing that you wouldn’t mind getting dirty or damaged.
- Keep you mobile phone charged & available – ensure you remain available to be informed once your sale has completed and to liaise with your estate agent about the key handover.
- Plan ahead for children and/or pets – to ease any avoidable stress on the day, plan ahead for childcare and pets – it will be easier and safer for all parties!
- Check your meters – don’t forget to take meter readings at both your old and new home to supply to the energy companies!
- Redirect your mail – ensure you have updated Royal Mail of your new address, in order to avoid missing out on any important or required post!
