Our Area

Famous for its pork pies, Melton Mowbray is a busy market town, ideal for a quieter way of life, yet only a 30-minute drive from Leicester, Grantham and Nottingham. Known as the ‘Rural Capital of Food’, Melton Mowbray is also one of the five homes of Stilton cheese, which originated near-by and is still made in the town today.

A famous cattle market every Tuesday attracts tourists from far and wide, and the town is close to the Vale of Belvoir, an area of outstanding natural beauty and home to Belvoir Castle, with its regular range of outdoor events.

World-renowned conductor Sir Malcolm Sargant had his first job in the town, as organist at St Mary’s Church, and Graham Chapman of Monty Python fame was brought up in Melton.

A major employer is pet food manufacturer Masterfood, which has been in the town since the 1950s.
