How to Make Stunning Christmas Place Settings

We all want Christmas dinner to be a special occasion and the food and the company are what make it special, but there is nothing wrong with adding a little je ne Sais quoi to proceedings with some fantastic table decorations. In this article we will take a look at 4 different way to create place settings that will really wow this Christmas.

First things first

Before you get going on the place settings, decide on your colour scheme and source a suitable table cloth as the central colour theme. You can choose whatever colour you want from traditional red and green to red and gold, silver, white, white and gold, red and white. Truly the world is your oyster, but the tablecloth or runner will set the colour theme for the table.

Personalised place settings

We all love the personal touch so, this Christmas, why not personalise each place setting? For that Fizz toast over dinner, why not get everyone one of these personalised Prosecco/champagne glasses? At the end of the day, they can take them home as a memento. Go one step further and add in these personalised place mats and coasters or even these really stylish personalised slate place mats. Finish off the setting with these initialled cotton napkins. You can’t get a more personal Christmas than that can you?

Go crazy for Christmas

Rather than choosing a colour scheme and making it feel festive, why not make the whole table Christmas themed? From these adorable Christmas side plates, to these  oval shaped Christmas platters for the main meal. Add in these really stylish Christmas champagne flutes and put them all on these great Christmas place mats and coasters. We loved these cute stocking cutlery holders. Finish the whole theme off with some Christmas napkins.  It might seem a little too much to some, but we absolutely love the idea of everything on the table being Christmas themed and the best thing is you can start with as little as you like and build upon your theme every year. These pieces will then form a part of your Christmas traditions, lovely!

Tartan

Checked patterns have really been popular this year so why not carry that theme over to Christmas dinner? Tartan is a great idea as it, almost by default, encompasses some pretty traditional Christmas colours. We loved these tartan placemats as they have the traditional tartan colours but run through with metallic gold thread, you can get the napkins to match as well as a lovely table runner. We decided not to go for the full table cloth as that might just look too much.  For your coasters we thought these tartan themed Christmas coasters are a lot of fun. As a final flourish, add these hand painted tartan champagne glasses. Now that is a jolly good theme!

White and Gold

For something a little more simplistic but very elegant, why not use a simple white and gold theme? You can layer the two colours to create some lovely effects. You can start with gold placemats and then add a white dinner plate, onto which you place a gold side plate. Add in a white coaster, lined with gold. You could mix it up with white crockery with gold rims of whatever thickness you want. Finish at all off with these stunning gold pattered champagne flutes from Oliver Bonas. We think that this simple but elegant match really does look spectacular.

When it comes to making stunning Christmas place settings you can let your imagination run wild. We hope our blog has given you some ideas for making you place settings wow this Christmas. Whatever you do, whether it be wild and whacky or simple and elegant,  the most important thing is to enjoy your time with family and friends and have yourselves a Merry Christmas.
