This year has seen some interesting home fashions from the big, bold and brash designs in maximalism to connecting with nature through biophilic design. As we go into Autumn, though things are looking to change a little. Biophilic design will still be popular we think but there will be a move towards other trends too. In this article we will take a look at some up-and-coming trends for Autumn 2022.
Bouclé
Bouclé is a type of looped yarn that is made in such as way that creates a curled, bumpy effect in the fabric and coming into the Autumn it is likely to be everywhere from sofas to footstools, to cushions and even bed linen. Imagine sinking into this gorgeous pink armchair at the end of a long day at work or walking bare footed across this luxurious rug. Using Bouclé throughout your home will help to create a cosy haven in which to weather the darker colder months.
Curves
Curves are becoming very much en vogue. We don’t mean just round; we are talking undulations. Everything from sofas to light shades to candle holders are becoming more curved. Take a look at the beautiful curved lines of the aptly named Palm sofa from Sofology. Or how about these curved candle holders? You have to admit that they are a real statement piece. We also absolutely adored this curved dining table from John Lewis. Just look at the legs! They are a far cry from the everyday straight legs, aren’t they? In just these examples it is so easy to see why curves are top of the pops this Autumn!
Dark!
As we go into Autumn, darker colours will be adorning the trendiest of homes. Dark Green and blues which evoke calmness and cosiness. Think Dark Academia here. The colours in this style are designed to match those of autumn itself, so golds, brown, green, red, black, bronze and grey all play a part in the colour palette for this autumn. Add to this vintage style furniture covered in velvet and bookcases with old leather-bound books on. This almost gothic style is not to everyone’s tastes but when done right will leave a lasting impression.
Playful Patterns
Stripes, checks and patchwork are making a resurgence this year, especially in brighter and bolder colours. This is appealing to the younger generation who are moving away from traditional patterns and colours. Take a look at this checked wingback armchair. Whilst a little muted, it will fit in perfectly with the darker colours of Dark Academia. But how about this delightful bed linen set? The greys and yellows are a perfect match but the little hedgehog design on the reverse really sets it off perfectly. Two covers in one!
We think the trends going into this Autumn are fantastic. The moody darkness and vintage look of dark academia and the comforting cosiness of Bouclé, to the sweeping curves and bold, playful patterns any of which will help to add real character to your home this Autumn.
