Leicester has a successful sporting heritage with professional clubs in football, rugby, cricket, basketball, speedway and hockey.  We’re a sporting city where nurture and development is at the heart, where home grown talent includes the likes of Gary Lineker, Peter Shilton, Emile Heskey and Mark Selby.  Leicester is also the only UK city to stage the Special Olympics twice in 1989 and 2009.
